All children who are four years old on or before September 1, 2016 and live in the Madison Metropolitan School District are eligible to participate in the Four-Year-Old Kindergarten (4K) program. Click here for information on 5-Year-Old Kindergarten.

 Online Enrollment for 4k and kindergarten programming for the fall of 2016-2017 opened on Jan. 25th, 2016. Click on the play button below to view a 3 minute video that introduces the information on the 4K application.


  4K Enrollment for the 2016-17 school year will take place on Monday, February 1st, 2016, from 2-6pm.

Can't make it? No problem. Begin the process online by clicking on the link below, then call your school to set up a time to go in and complete the process. Parents of children who currently attend an early education program through the MMSD do not need to register again.

When parents or guardians register their child, they will be required to show proof of age and proof of residency.

Proof of age -- the child's birth certificate or passport, or other proofs such as copies of medical records, formal religious records maintained by an entity other than the parent/guardian, etc. are acceptable.

Proof of residency -- a utility bill, lease or mortgage are acceptable.

Children are welcome to accompany parents, but they are not required to attend.

If you live less than 1.5 miles from your child’s assigned 4-year-old kindergarten school site and wish to be considered for district-provided transportation you must complete and submit the Application for Consideration for 4K Walk Area Exception. Please submit this application by 4:00PM on Friday, August 26th to:
